Brownies The short fib Brownies written by ZZ Packer and narrated by one of the miss Scouts named Laurel or Snot, involves a lookation in a restroom over a perceived racial play between a mess of non- black-and-blue little girl Scouts and a troop of gaberdine girl Scouts. Ironically, the black troop comes to find that the white girls were in fact, developmentally challenged or delayed learners. The irony is doubled when the black misfire Scouts have no misgivings at even calling the white Girl Scouts retarded while arguing over the racial film over that was heard by the girls, nigger. Dramatic chaff is irony that occurs when the core of the situation is understood by the hearing but not by the characters in play. Throughout the imperious figment, the black Girl Scout troop wants to physically bear the white Girl Scout troop over a racial confuse that they werent even sure was said. The sa lie innt(ip) irony in this is that the reader is aware that t he racial slur was never actually social functiond; yet the characters within the story falsely believe that it has. Brownies critiques racial chauvinism through the utilisation of dramatic irony. ZZ Packer aims this technique throughout the story and it is vastly powerful. ZZ Packer displays the black Girl Scout troops inexplicable racial hatred for white people through pleasing humor.
